May 04, 2011.  The Etisalat Company from the United Arab Emirates, one of the leaders of the global telecommunication market explores the possibility for establishing mutually advantageous cooperation with Turkmenistan. A delegation of the top managers of this Arabian company led Mohammed Hassan Omran Alshamsi, Managing Director and Chairman of Executive Committee of Etisalat visited Turkmenistan.

A meeting held by the Arabian businessmen at the Cabinet of Ministers focused on the possibilities for establishing mutually advantageous partnership in the telecommunications sector. It was noted that President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attached considerable significance to dynamic development of modern communication services in the country and took the consistent measures to facilitate modernization of enterprises and use of advanced technologies and equipment in the mobile telephone systems and the Internet and promote mutually advantageous international cooperation that should foster the progress of the telecommunications sector in compliance with international quality standards.

Stating that the company intended to become an active player on the promising telecommunications market in Turkmenistan, the top managers focused on the company’s readiness to share its expertise and advanced technologies with Turkmen partners. The Etisalat Company is a national Internet provider in the United Arab Emirates that dynamically develops the international vectors of cooperation through investing in the telecommunications sector on many regions of the world. In particular, the company provides communications services in 18 countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Etisalat is a world’s largest mobile operator with over 100 million subscribers.

In conclusion the meeting participants expressed belief that mutually advantageous partnership between Turkmen enterprises and leading foreign companies would boost development of the telecommunications market in Turkmenistan, application of information technologies and improvement of the quality of telecommunications services.
