OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2011. The volume of transactions carried out in the first quarter of 2011 by means of bankcards issued in Moldova totaled 3,694.9 million leis (USD 323 million), up 519.7 million leis (16.4%) in comparison with the same period of 2010. According to the National Bank of Moldova’s data, the volume of cash drawn out from such bankcards increased by 15.6 percent – from 3,079.46 million to 3,559.5 million leis, and the volume of cashless payments with them increased 1.4 times – from 95.78 million to 135.48 million.

According to the NBM’s data, the volume of transactions effected in January-March 2011 abroad with bankcards issued in Moldova exceeded the indicators of the same period last year by 20.2 percent – from 202.99 million leis to 244.06 million leis. While the volume of cash, drawn out from such bankcards abroad reduced almost by 7 percent – from 72.6 million to 67.58 million leis, the volume of cashless payments with these bankcards grew 35.3 percent – from 130.38 million to 176.47 million leis.

The volume of transactions made in Moldova with the bankcards issued abroad increased in this period of time by 12.6% - from 292.09 million to 329.05 million leis. The volume of cash drawn out from such cards increased by 14.1% - from 205 million to 233.9 million leis, and the volume of cashless payments with them increased by 9.2 percent – from 87.08 million to 95.1 million leis.
