OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2011. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against the State-Run Nuclear Energy Corporation – “Rosatom” upon the signs of violating Part 1 Article 15 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”: “Rosatom” restricted the choice of customers and suppliers of isotope products, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Earlier “Rosatom” issued an order, where “V/O Izotop” OJSC was specified as an authorised organisation that coordinates activities of producers of isotope products, both members and non-members of the State-Run Corporation.

According to the order, “V/O Izotop” OJSC acts as an intermediary in sale of isotope products and determines the unified sales policy of the industry. Producers of isotope products for general and medical purposes must enter into supply contracts with “V/O Izotop” OJSC, which effectively restricts independent work of market participants. Thus, actions of “Rosatom” State-Run Corporation can result in restricting competition on the market of isotope products in the Russian Federation.

The case hearing is scheduled on 6th June 2011.

Isotope products are widely used in various sectors of industry and agriculture, in the automation systems of technological processes, for the purposes of non-destructive testing of weld seams, radiation and dosimetric control. Free circulation of isotope products in the Russian Federation is prohibited and is regulated by the Federal Law “On Use of Nuclear Energy”.
