OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2011. Freight One has begun hauling building materials for the reconstruction of a cross-border segment of rail stretching from Hasan (Russia) through Tumangan (DPRK) to Rajin (DPRK).

In May, Freight One organized the delivery of this year’s first batch of crushed stone, weighing 8200 tons, to the construction units of RZhDstroy involved in the project. The crushed stone was taken from Sibirtsev Crushed Stone Plant, Primorye region’s largest, which focuses on the production of high-quality crushed stone for railway construction needs. Freight One has already hauled 3800 tons of crushed stone in the first half of June in accordance with the delivery schedule.

The decision to restore the Trans-Korean Line, reconstruct the Russian-Korean segment Hassan-Rajin and build a container terminal in the north of the DPRK was adopted in March 2006 in Vladivostok at a three-way meeting of the railway authorities of Russia, the ROK and the DPRK.

Freight One was chosen for the project because it offered a rate 8% below the total cost of using state-owned gondolas for the same purpose.
