OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2011. A session of the Uzbek-Italian intergovernmental working group for trade, economic and industrial cooperation and export credits was held in Tashkent.

Representatives of ministries and departments, companies and firms of two countries, responsible for banking-financial, energy, oil and gas, construction, machinery, chemistry, trade, light industry, tourism, and other participated at the event.

During the session, the sides exchanged opinion on further expanding and strengthening of trade-economic and investment cooperation, as well as implementation of joint projects, UzA reported.
In particular, the sides discussed issues of increasing bilateral trade turnover, number of joint ventures and expanding assortment of products.

Participants considered issues of further developing relations of oil and gas, banking-finance, textile and light industry, etc.

On the same day, the Uzbek-Italian business forum and a cooperation exchange were held in Tashkent. The sides discussed privatization process, ongoing economic reforms in Uzbekistan, development of small and private businesses.

The sides exchanged opinion on expanding cooperation of agriculture, machinery, oil and gas, transport communication, food, furniture, education, as well as implementing projects at Navoi fee industrial and economic zone.

The volume of mutual trade made up US1.9 million in 2010, and in the first eight months of this year the figure has already exceeded US3.9 million. More than 30 joint ventures created with Italian investments operate in Uzbekistan.
