OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2011. The Government of Uzbekistan approved a programme of targeted measures on developing tourism and increasing export potential of tourism services in Bukhara region in 2011-2012, Uzbektourism said.

Within the programme, it is planned to build hotels, modernize tourism infrastructure, develop new routes, as well as improve skills of cadres in tourism sector.

Bukhara is famous worldwide as unique ancient city at Great Silk Road. Large number of tourists visits the city each year to familiarize with mysterious history of East and get acquainted with narrow streets, historic-architecture sights.

In order to create comfortable conditions for guests, the programme envisages construction of the hotel, near Bahauddin Naqshbandi Complex with 40 rooms, three-star hotel for 160 places. It is also planned to reconstruct Zarafshan and Varahsha hotels in Bukhara city.

Within development of tourism infrastructure, it is planned to create conditions for tourists at territories of the historic-architecture monuments, in particular to install information tablets in Uzbek, Russia and English. Tourists will be able to appreciate views of night Bukhara, walking through lightened trade rows of Toki-Sarrofon, Toki-Telpakfurushon, Toki-Zargaron, historic complexes Poyi Kalon, Lyabi Hovuh, Sitorai Mohi-Hosa and Ark.

Unique tourism objects of Bukhara region will become place for pleasant walking and familiarizing with culture and nature of Uzbekistan. In particular, Center for resting of tourists will be constructed near Devhona lake in Karualbazar, where tourists will be able to fish or participate in Camel Safari. Besides, it is planned to create comfortable conditions at territory of Ecologic Center Jeyran, where tourists can see rare animals, enjoy nature and rest at shade of Chinar (plane) trees.

Unique culture of the Uzbek people, traditions and customs will be presented within such events as Qovun Sayli (Melon Festival), Palov Sayli (Plav Festival) and “Silk and Spice”. It is also planned to create Center “Bukhoro Shashmaqomi”, where tourists will be able to listen Shashmaqom, classic Uzbek music.

Bukhara is also popular on workmanship. Tourists will be able to familiarize with produced craftsmanship products at special villages. They can also purchase souvenirs here.

The programme envisages measures on promotion of tourism potential of Bukhara region at international markets. In particular, it is planned to organize participation of local tour operators at exhibitions and fairs in Berlin, London, Beijing, New York, Moscow and other cities.

Realization of the programme with the budget of US.015 million will become important step in attraction of additional tourists to Bukhara region.
