OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2011. Electric energy export from Ukraine to Moldova has grown to 536 mln. kW/hours within 10 months of 2011, which is 27 times as much as in the same period in 2010.  These findings are cited by the ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine.

Within January-October, 2010, the electricity supply to Moldova was 19,9 mln. kW/hour. The share of Moldova has equaled 10,8% in the total volume of Ukrainian supply of electricity within 10 months of this year.

In 2010 and in Q1, 2011, Ukraine provided only net power flow to Moldova’s energy system, commercial export has been interrupted by the initiative of Moldova in 2009 in connection with the signing of a long-term contract with Moldavian hydro power plant.

Ukraine recommenced commercial export of electricity in Moldova on April, 1, 2011. the cost of Ukrainian electricity is 6,1 cents per 1 kW/hour which corresponds to release price of Moldova’s hydro power plant.
