OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2011. Belarus and Vietnam are set to develop a joint scientific practical center. The relevant agreement was signed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in Hanoi.

Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich paid a visit to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology as part of his official trip to Vietnam.

Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed that Belarus is interested in expanding sci-tech cooperation with Vietnam. The two countries believe that setting up a joint scientific practical center will help achieve the goal. The center will conduct research and produce innovative goods.

Regarding the current visit to Vietnam, Mikhail Myasnikovich stated that his major task is to discuss joint projects and new areas of cooperation. “We are happy to see Vietnam’s successes in the social, economic and cultural areas, and we are ready to provide all necessary assistance to Vietnam not to lose this momentum,” he added. The PM said that he is due to talk over the issues related to bilateral cooperation with Vietnam including the free trade zone, industrial partnership, and production of minerals. “We would like these projects to benefit both Belarus and Vietnam, especially taking into account the experience gained in sci-tech cooperation,” he said. The Belarusian head of government expressed confidence that Belarus-Vietnam partnership would enter a new level of development and the cooperation between the two countries would become more intensive.

According to Sergei Chizhik, the main scientific secretary with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, at first the Belarusian-Vietnamese innovation center will implement projects in instrument making, cell nanotechnologies and low-tonnage chemistry. In the future the range of joint projects will expand into the joint production of innovative products.

President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Chau Van Minh stated that Vietnam is also interested in closer cooperation with Belarus in the scientific sector and implementation of new joint projects. The agreement to set up a joint innovation center will help scientists develop new technologies for further application in production.
