OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2012. This has been announced by Halim Atesh, president of Azercell Telekom Holding during the visit of Vladimir Filat, prime-minister of Moldova, and members of Moldova’s delegation in the headquarters of Azercell in Baku.

The meeting has been participated by Ciril Gaburici, president of Moldcell, and Halim Ates, president of Azercell Telekom Holding. These companies are members of TeliaSonera Еurasia Group, which operates in 7 countries including Moldova and Azerbaijan. At present, Azercell is taking 54% of the mobile communication market of Azerbaijan and is the largest taxpayer in the budget in the non-oil segment of its economy.

The prime-minister of Moldova has appreciated the rates of the company’s development and spoke for more investment attracted in Moldova. According to Halim Ates, USD 200 mln. have been invested in the Moldova’s mobile communication market within last 10 years and this process will be continued.

Halim Ates has awarded the prime-minister of Moldova an honorary diploma for positive benefit to the development of mobile communication in Moldova. TeliaSonera, a Swedish-Finnish company, is a main shareholder of Moldcell via Fintur Holdings B.V, which belongs to TeliaSonera and holds 99% of shares of Moldcell, with 1% being held by MolFintur.
