OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2012. A non-feudal society characterized by uneven distribution of money and goods is being created in Moldova, - Association of sociologists and demographists.Such a conclusion has been done by experts in “Vox Populi – January, 2012. Social Stratification in Moldova”, a public opinion poll presented.

According to the research, 0,5% respondents think themselves very reach, 7% believe themselves middle-income, 27% consider themselves close to middle-income ones, 48% think themselves poor and 16% call themselves crossed the poverty line. The model of the Moldova’s society is a pyramid, whereas societies in developed countries are diamond-shaped and presented by a wider stratum of middle-income people and narrower one of the reach and poor, Victor Mocanu, chairman of the Association of sociologists and demographists, has said.

According to the research, the most worrying points for respondents are growth in prices for foods and utilities (66%), low wages and pensions (53%), future of their children (41%), unemployment (30%), and corruption (26%). About 63% respondents think Moldova’s inner developments moving wrong way, 21% think them right and 16% find it difficult to answer.

About 64% of respondents are discontent with Moldova’s internal policy for last two years, 60% are dissatisfied with anticorruption campaign, 40% with the economic changes in rural areas, 38% with changes in health care, 29% with economic changes in urban areas and 30% with changes in education.

Almost half of respondents (47%) thinks 2011 have been harder than 2010, about 38% did not feel any changes and for 14% 2011 have become easier. The public opinion poll was held on January, 9-18, 2012 among 1587 residents of Moldova, with the error being ±2,6%.
