OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2012. At a meeting with representatives of economic mass media on Tuesday, Tohir Mirzoyev, permanent representative has noted that Moldova has achieved the targets of the Program concerning macro-economic stabilization, budget regulation and stimulation of economic growth. In April a visit of the progress estimating mission of the Fund is scheduled, with the completing mission visiting Moldova in October-November.

It will review the results of the 3-year program of cooperation of the government with IMF, which comes to its end in 2013. As for signing the new program, Tohir Mirzoyev has stressed that it is the question of the government which can either prolong the program, or to make a break or even to refuse it. The government has to appraise all pros and cons of the program and to make an independent decision.

Moldova will hardly need the support from IMF shortly but availability of the program of cooperation of the government with the Fund will contribute to inflow of foreign investment in our country. If the government decides to sign the new program immediately after completion of the current one, providing the continuity by this, it has to apply for it as early as this autumn.

According to Tohir Mirzoyev, the new program may be based on other conditions, as far as the situation in the global and Moldova’s economy has changed within the last three years. In future, Moldova is to answer the main question concerning significant intensification of economic activity, because everybody understands that remittances from people Moldova’s working abroad the economy of Moldova is being based today will stop sooner or later.
