OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2012. Belarus has seen the consumer price index grow 1.9% in January 2012 to compare with 2.3% in December 2011, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

In January, staple food prices went up 2.2%; non-food prices increased 1.6%, and service prices went up 1.8%.

Belarus’ inflation grew 108.7% in 2011, while the original forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. The government expects inflation to stay under 19-22% in 2012.
