OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2012. As part of community service, Tata Power and Tata Steel collaborated to install a bore-well at St Roberts School, Parsudih, Jamshedpur.

St Roberts School, situated in the neighbourhood, was faced with the problem of drinking water shortage. Jamshedpur faces scarcity of drinking water, especially during summers. In order to ease the situation, Tata Power with the support of Tata Steel installed a 707-feet-deep bore-well in the school campus.

The water in this bore-well will be stored in seven water tanks of 1,000 litres placed on top of various blocks of the school to provide water to each wing. The cost of the project was borne by Tata Power, while Tata Steel provided execution support for this project.

Speaking on the occasion, AP Wankhede, head, eastern region operations, said, “We are happy that our efforts have helped in providing relief to 1,500 students in the school. We would look forward to active participation by these schoolchildren in all our initiatives of resource conservation — be it energy or water — in the near future.”
