OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2012. NPO Saturn hosted a certification audit of the SaM146 serial engine production administered by the representatives of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

A third certification audit by the European Union’s aviation authority is the completing stage of the SaM146 production process certification required to demonstrate compliance with the EASA requirements (Part 21). The results of the conducted audit, according to the EASA auditors, make it possible for NPO Saturn to obtain a Production Organization Approval certificate (POA) in the nearest future.

The SaM146 engine production certification by the EASA will ensure safe operation of the SaM146 engines in the skies of the European Union countries.

Marc Ventre, Safran director of operations congratulated Ilya Fedorov, chief executive officer of NPO Saturn on the successful completion by NPO Saturn of the EASA audit. The letter received from Mr. Ventre says: “I have just discovered that NPO Saturn has successfully passed a certification audit of its production system administered by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). For the first time in history a Russian engine-building company has been granted a Production Organization Approval certificate. I congratulate you and your team on the successful completion of the POA procedure and the demonstrated results. I would also like to take the opportunity to express my full support of the SaM146 engine production ramp-up schedule. During the meeting of our companies’ representatives on March, 9th 2012 focused on the discussion of promoting this schedule, I expressed my appreciation of the effectiveness of your performance. Please, accept my congratulations and sincere pride of what you have managed to accomplish”.
