OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2012. During the visit of Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to Sweden he met with Secretary of State Minister of Trade of Sweden Gunnar Oom.

During the meeting they discussed state and prospects of trade and economic and investment cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden in particular opportunities to deepen cooperation in energy efficiency, issues of European integration of Ukraine, particularly preparation for initiation of the deep and comprehensive free trade area between Ukraine and the EU after the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the possible of participation of Swedish companies in modernization of Ukrainian gas transport system, promising bilateral projects in various sectors of the economy and more.

An important result of the negotiations is an agreement that Sweden will continue to support Ukraine towards European integration, in particular in the harmonization of national legislation to EU norms and standards, Sweden will facilitate the initiation of the FTA between the EU and Ukraine and will encourage Swedish businesses to actively work on potentially attractive Ukrainian market, including their active participation in modernization of the economy of our country. Swedish side reacted favorably Ukrainian initiative to assess the efficiency of use by Ukraine of Swedish assistance in development and realignment of existing resources from inefficient projects to energy sector, including it has been established new projects on energy efficiency and environmental protection within the EU initiative E5R (so-called "Swedish initiative ").

Petro Poroshenko invited Secretary of State Minister of Trade of Sweden Gunnar Oom to visit Ukraine at a convenient time. The invitation was accepted with thanks.
