OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2012. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter, “MMC Norilsk Nickel” and “the Company”) announces that as part of Russian-Indonesian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic and Technological Cooperation activities, a task meeting was held between General Director – Chairman of the Management Board of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel Mr. Strzhalkovsky and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Mr. Rajasa, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the project on the copper smelting facilities construction that the Company carries out in cooperation with its Indonesian partner, PT Nusantara Smelting Corporation that has Memorandum of Understanding with Norilsk Nickel, prolonged in June. The parties came to understanding that the design stage shall be commenced by the end of 2012.

A particular emphasis was made on the development of coal deposits located in Indonesia territory, as part of the railroad construction project in East Kalimantan to be implemented in cooperation with OJSC Russian Railways.

Furthermore, the parties discussed Russian-Indonesian Business Council activities and further prospects for cooperation in trade, economy and other fields. Mr. Rajasa emphasized the efficient operation of the Business Council and the orientation on strengthening the relations between both countries.
