OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2012. Sojitz Logistics Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sojitz Corporation, and VINATRANS, a Vietnamese-based, government owned logistics company (VT), established Sojitz Logistics Vietnam Co.,Ltd (SLV) as a general logistics services joint venture.

Vietnam has maintained annual average GDP growth of 7.25%, and its economic growth continues to outperform other ASEAN countries. With the development of the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port deep-water terminal in the vicinity of Ho Chi Minh City and the creation of east-west and north-south economic corridors, Vietnam is transforming into a major network hub linking Asian countries. By establishing SLV with VT, a major local logistics company, Sojitz Logistics is developing logistics not only within Vietnam, but throughout the Mekong region as well as overseas. Sojitz Logistics is also looking into logistics using the north-south economic corridor.

Sojitz Logistics has been working to reinforce services in Vietnam since it established a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in 1997. Sojitz Logistics has focused on integrated international transport services that target countries in Indochina such as the Cross Border Transportation Service (CBTS), an integrated transportation service that uses the Second East-West Economic Corridor to link Vietnam and Cambodia without the need to reload freight. At the Long Duc Industrial Park (located in the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City), which Sojitz is developing and selling, large warehouses with customs functions is constructed and an Industrial Park Logistics Service was launched to provide tenants with one-stop logistics services.
