OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2012. In the first 6 months of 2012 GDP of Moldova made up 39295 bln. lei or \\$3.2 bln. , 0.8% up as compared with the same period of 2011. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in January-June, 2012 the gross value added in the sector of industrial goods decreased 0.1% and adversely affected GDP by 0.1%. In the commodities sector, the gross value added of agriculture, hunting, forestry, fishery and fish-keeping declined 5.2% whereas the gross added value of industry grew 1.1.% and brought to GDP 0.2%.

Contribution of the gross value added of the goods sector to GDP made up 21.5%. The gross value added created in the service sector increased 1.9% as compared with the first 6 months of 2011 and contributed 1.2% to GDP.

The greatest growth of the gross value added was recorded wholesale and retail trade where it equalled to 4.1%; in construction (3.1%); and in the area other services (1%). Contribution of the gross value added of the services sector to GDP made up 64.8%. Receipts to the national budget from taxes on foods declined 0.7% as compared with the first half-year of 2011 and adversely affected GDP by 0.1%. In January-June, 2012 a share of taxed on foods made up 16.3% in GDP of Moldova. Final consumption increased 0.7% and contributed to GDP 0.9%.

The growth of the final consumption in this period was determined by an increase of final consumption of households by 1.1%. Gross capital formation declined 0.3% to 18.8 of GDP. Export and import of goods and services grew 6.8% and 5% respectively as compared with the same period of the past year.

It should be reminded that the government of Moldova reduced the GDP growth projection from 4% to 3% taking into account a slowdown in the national economy. The GDP projection by IMF was reduced from 3.5% to 3% for 2012. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development reduced its projects of Moldova’s GDP for 2012 by 1.5 p.p. from 4% to 2.5%. GDP grew 6.4% in 2011 in Moldova and 1% in Q1, 2012.
