OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2013. This week the project is launching in region of Straseni, Taraclia, Causani, Calaras, Nisporeni and Ialoveni. All these regions will see presentation of the project with the description of conditions to be met by settlements for public institutions there to be heated by renewable energy. Mayor, farmers and director of public institutions are invited to the presentations.

The tender will be held in the regions to select a company to install biomass- heated boilers. Bids are accepted till January, 30 and should be sent to the address of Energy and Biomass. The tender will be held in several stages and detailed description of the selecting criteria is available on the sit of the project: http://biomasa.aee.md/selection-criteria-ro/. Within 2011-2012 Energy and Biomass covered 20 regions of Moldova, including Gagauzia.

Over 100 settlements of Moldova were selected for transition of public institutions to bio-mass generating heating. Thanks to installation of new heating systems 226 jobs were created and dozens of companies were established for produce biomass briquettes and granules.

The total sum of investments made in 20 regions amounted to USD 8.141 mln. of which USD 2.434 mln. were invested by settlements. By 2014 at least 130 schools and kindergartens will have switched over to the biomass heating system.

The total commitment of the project, which was launched in 2011 and to be completed in 2013, makes up 14.56 mln. euros of which 14 mln. euros are provided by the European Union and 560 thou. euros by UNDO Moldova.
