OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2013. Cabinet ministers of Moldova approve the protocol on creation of Moldovan-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. The protocol of amendments to the Intergovernmental Agreement on Economic Cooperation between Moldova and Hungary, concluded in February, 23, 2010 in Chisinau, was signed in the capital of Moldova on December, 20, 2012.

On the basis of this Agreement a working Moldovan-Hungarian group was been created on economic cooperation and trade promotion. The amendments will raise its status to the level of an intergovernmental commission, which will encourage intensification of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Moldova and Hungary.

The first sitting of the Moldovan-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is to take place in Budapest in April, 2013 The sitting as well as the Moldovan-Hungarian Economic Forum are organized in the framework of a visit of Premier of Moldova Vladimir Filat to Hungary. Bilateral trade between Moldova and Hungary made up USD 112 mln. in January-November, 2012, 3% down as compared with the same period of 2011.

Hungary is the 12th major trade partner of our country. There are 20 Moldovan-Hungarian enterprises in Moldova. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Moldova exported to Hungary goods at a sum of USD 27.2 mln in January-November, 2012, 30.7% up as compared with the same period of the last year. The import of Hungarian production decreased 11.2% to USD 81.7 mln.
