OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2013. This year the development of wholesale markets of agricultural production remains one of the key lines of the state policy in the direction of development of agrarian market infrastructure. So, in 2012 to support the development of wholesale agricultural markets (WAM) it was allotted UAH 248 million. In 2013 it is planned to continue financing. This was informed by the Minister Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk.

“The development of infrastructure of the agrarian market remains for us a top-priority issue. As nowadays the state is supporting small and average producers. However, mediators purchase their goods at low prices. That’s why at the account of development of WAM the state encourages small and average agrarian producers to directly sell their production to the consumers. So, last year with an aim to develop and support wholesale agricultural markets UAH 248 million was allocated. In general already UAH 774 million was invested into the development of WAM,” Mykola Prysyazhniuk informed.

According to him, the functioning WAM already proved their effectiveness, so in 2013 it is planned to continue financing this area. So, during last year such wholesale agricultural markets as Stolychnyi, Shuvar and Hospodar were visited by over 3 million customers. Over 160 thousand producers took advantages from these markets and sold their production. Overall, from the beginning of work over 1 million tons of production was sold in these markets.

For now the WAM status was received by 11 markets in Lviv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhya, Odessa, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Rivne, Luhansk and Mykolayiv regions and in Mariupol town.
