OREANDA-NEWS. In 2012, fuel company of Rosatom TVEL spent approximately RUB 0.5 billion on its charitable programs, including more than RUB 300 million provided directly by TVEL OJSC.

TVEL adopted a new format for implementing its charity policy by shifting from one-off charitable contributions to charitable programs and policies based on shared values (in the field of culture and spiritual development, pre-school and additional education, sport and public health improvement) with a special focus on projects and programs in regions where the Fuel Company's enterprises are located, with co-financing provided by local and regional authorities.

The main projects implemented in 2012 include:

- co-financing with regional authorities of business support and development funds established in order to create new high-tech jobs and develop the business environment in the cities where the company's enterprises are located (RUB 210 million: RUB 110 million allocated by TVEL OJSC + RUB 100 million provided by public authorities),

- co-financing with regional and local authorities of a project to create and develop physical and mathematical lyceums to improve the quality of education in physics- and mathematics-related subjects and train future workforce for the nuclear industry (RUB 254 million: RUB 117 million allocated by TVEL OJSC + RUB 137 million provided by public authorities),

- improving public medical services in the cities (RUB 9 million),

- building accommodation for the key employees in the budget sector of the cities where the company’s enterprises are located (RUB 25 million).

- continuing “My Yard. My House. My Family” project to install children’s playground equipment in the cities where the company’s enterprises are located (RUB 11.7 million), which attracted much public attention in 2011.

The projects were implemented in accordance with the Cooperation Agreements made last year between Rosatom State Corporation and the governors of Tomsk and Sverdlovsk regions, Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Udmurtia. These Agreements provide for a whole set of events aimed at promoting social and economic development in the enterprises' regions of presence.

In 2012, the company provided charitable aid to veterans’ and public organizations, societies of the disabled, social and pedagogical associations, and medical establishments. More than RUB 10 million was allocated to promote amateur and children’s sport in the regions of presence of the Fuel Company. Moreover, sponsorship support was provided to Nuclear Kids, and international children’s creative project, as well as to the creative project called Rosatom Territory of Culture.

Co-financing to social and charitable projects was provided out of profit generated at the first stage of restructuring through disposal of non-core assets of the Fuel Company.
