OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, was recognised as the ‘Most Admired Infrastructure Company’ in the power sector at the 5th KPMG Infrastructure Today Awards held in New Delhi.

The awards recognise excellence in the infrastructure sector, emphasising on the need for the government of India to provide momentum to the sector in order for the country to reach the targeted GDP growth. Kamal Nath, Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, graced the occasion as the chief guest for the evening and awarded the prize to the winners. Praveer Sinha, CEO-Tata Power Delhi Distribution, received the award on behalf of Tata Power.

Speaking about the recognition, Anil Sardana, managing director, Tata Power, said: “It is a real pleasure and honour to have received the recognition of being the Most Admired Infrastructure Company in the power sector. Congratulating the winners of the awards for this year, Arvind Mahajan, partner and head of global infrastructure and energy and natural resources for KPMG, emphasised that the winners of these awards serve as role models in this challenging year for the sector as a whole who will be able to take the unfinished infrastructure story of India to the next level with the support and aid of the Indian Government.

The awards were judged by an independent jury comprising several stalwarts in the industry. Besides the award for the Most Admired Infrastructure Company in the power sector, the awards also recognised companies in the renewable energy, transport, water and urban infrastructure, infrastructure debt financier, infrastructure equity financer and others.
