OREANDA-NEWS. The process of harmonization of Uzbekistan’s accession to the CIS free trade zone is completed, Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergei Lebedev said at the CIS international economic forum in Moscow on 15 March, BelTA has learned.

“Two days ago experts held a session on the issue. They announced that the process of harmonization of Uzbekistan’s accession to the free trade zone was complete,” Sergei Lebedev said.

The official expressed hope that Uzbekistan will officially join the free trade zone agreement at the session of the CIS heads of government which will be held in Minsk in May.

Sergei Lebedev remarked that the document has already entered into force in seven out of nine countries that had signed the agreement. These are Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are completing ratification procedures.
