OREANDA-NEWS. Taiwan will launch a trade fair in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province in late April, the Anhui branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) said.

The fair is believed to be the largest ever of its kind, with more than 500 Taiwan-based firms due to be present.

The event is scheduled for April 27 to 30 at the Anhui International Convention and Exhibition Center in the Economic and Technological Development District.

Visitors will be greeted by a kaleidoscope of made-in-Taiwan commodities, ranging from agricultural products to apparel, cosmetics, sports goods and cultural products.

Among 15 pavilions, the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion and the Agricultural Excellence Pavilion are the highlights, according to Lai Dengke, who works for the Nanjing Office of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

"The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion will showcase products that have won the Taiwan Excellence Award," Lai said. The award, delivered by the TAITRA, is based on four criteria: R& D, design, quality and marketing.

The Agricultural Excellence Pavilion, he added, is expected to wow visitors with special farm produce like butterfly orchids with the longest stem in the planet, a new variety of flamingo flowers and various Taiwanese fruits.
