OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2013. The exhibition stand of Qatar Petroleum’s Offshore Operations at the recently concluded QP Environment Fair 2013 attracted  a large number of visitors, including many school children, on all days of the event.

The exhibition stand showcased the birds and other wildlife living at Halul Island and offshore locations, and the educational and entertaining displays captured the interest of all students who visited the exhibition stand.

The Offshore Operations’ exhibit highlighted Halul Island’s rich biodiversity by showcasing the various resident and migratory birds that are found on the island and the different animals that were introduced there, such as the mountain goat, deer, the Arabian oryx and other domesticated animals.

The reef balls deployed on the southwest of Halul Island were also highlighted by showing a replica of the artificial reef ball at the stand. This helped raise awareness on the importance of protecting and enhancing the marine environment, as the reef ball imitates the natural coral reef that serves as home to a wide variety of fishes and other marine creatures.

Children also enjoyed the various activities at the stand as they engaged in arts and crafts using recycled plastic bottles, thereby promoting the value of reuse and recycling and further boosting the environmental awareness of the general public.

Mr. Mubarak A. Al-Hajri, Operations Manager-Offshore Fields of QP, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP, and to Mr. Said M. Al-Mohannadi, QP Operations Director, for their continuous support and guidance to Offshore Operations.
