OREANDA-NEWS. April 30, 2013. Since 2010, the number of pre-schools in Ukraine was increased by 1350 and now the total number is about 16.5 thousand pre-schools. This was started by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul during the opening of a kindergarten in the village of Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk Region.

As of January 1, 2013 there are more than 1.4 million children in the kindergartens. Currently, 91.5% of children aged 3 to 6 years and 99.9% of children 5 years of age are covered by pre-school education in the country.

"The Government will continue to develop preschool education. Since 2013 12 thousand kindergartens are opened in the country. Also it was created 72 new groups in the existing kindergartens. All this gave the possible to create this year additional 1935 seats for Ukrainian children," Oleksandr Vilkul said.
