OREANDA-NEWS. On 12-14 May Budapest hosted the 6th Europe-Ukraine Forum, which discussed the prospects for the relationship between Europe and Ukraine.

The forum, which takes place annually, opened with the presentation of the Ukraine 2012 Report on Transformation prepared by the Gorshenin Institute, a Kyiv based think tank. The discussions focused on Ukraine’s relationship with the EU and in particular the possibility of the two parties signing and Association Agreement later this year, as well issues such as the rule of law, energy security and Ukraine's investment climate.

The event attracted 300 delegates from Ukraine, neighbouring countries, the EU and USA including leading politicians and businessmen, key stakeholders from the European Commission, European Parliament, think tanks and journalists.

SCM was represented at the Forum by Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Director of International and Investor Relations, who was one of the speakers at the event said: “The Forum took place at a key point in the development of Ukraine’s relationship with the EU and was an opportunity for all stakeholders to share their opinions. The mood was positive regarding both the development of the country and its potential to reach European living standards as well as for the prospects of further integration with the EU and from a business perspective, its markets."

The Forum was organised by the Eastern Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary.
