OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2013. FAW-VW held a groundbreaking ceremony for its EA211 engine project in Changchun.

With investments totaled 2.3 billion yuan, the new workshop is located at Changchun Automobile Economic Development Zone, and covers an area of 124,000 square meters.  After the workshop put into operation the plant will be capable of production of 450,000 EA211 engines annually in the first phase and 600,000 units in the second phase. So far no domestic producers can make the EA211 engine that meet Euro 5 emission standard.

"Construction of the new engine plant is a symbol that FAW and Volkswagen have made new progress in cooperation," said Xu Jianyi, Chairman of FAW Group at the ceremony. "The new plant will boost FAW-VW's manufacturing level, and lay a solid foundation for the company facing fiercer market competition."
 
FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between FAW Group and Volkswagen AG, produces a wide range of premium passenger and commercial vehicles. Current products include the Volkswagen Bora, Caddy MPV, Golf, Jetta, Magotan, and Sagitar; and Audi A4, A6L, A8L, Q7, and TT.
