OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2013. SGCC Chairman Liu Zhenya talked with IEC President Mr. Klaus Wucherer, General Secretary and CEO Mr. Frans W.P. Vreeswijk, and President-Elect Mr. Junji Nomura. Both sides expressed the wish to deepen their cooperation to innovate and develop the power grid. SGCC President Shu Yinbiao also attended the meeting.

Headquartered in Geneva, the IEC is one of the oldest organizations giving global standards to the world's electrotechnical industries. As of the end of 2012, 60 countries have become full members and 6 of them are permanent NCs. SGCC has been actively participating in IEC for many years. Mr. Shu Yinbiao now is the Vice-President of IEC with specific responsibility for leading Market Strategy Board.

Mr. Liu Zhenya welcomed Mr. Klaus Wucherer and his delegation. When introducing SGCC’s performance in innovation, he emphasized that China has met an unprecedented opportunity to develop its energy and electricity along with many challenges. Currently SGCC is vigorously promoting new energies with a stress on scientific and technological innovation to construct the Strong and Smart Grid backboned by UHV grids. To realize all-rounded and 24/7 monitoring over the company and the grid and improve service quality, the company is constructing and enhancing its National Power Dispatching Center, SGCC Operation Monitoring (Control) Center, and Customer Service Center. There is great potential for SGCC to cooperate with IEC on its way for sustainable development and innovative development. He hoped that the two sides could carry out in-depth collaboration on events, intellectual property rights, and standard formulation for grid development.

Mr. Klaus Wucherer thanked SGCC’s support for IEC. He pointed out that China, as an IEC’s permanent NC, had made important contributions to the organization. SGCC has a vast business area and contributed a lot to the socio-economic development while shouldering critical responsibilities and missions. The company is now in a leading position in relevant technological fields with its strength and innovation capacity. IEC has been fully aware of the importance to build the connection with SGCC and is willing for closer cooperation. He said IEC would strengthen its exchange and cooperation with SGCC, explore into a mechanism to share their achievements, and help SGCC play a more active role in the world’s electrotechnical industries.
