OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2013. Vice Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Georgia Olexandr Vilkul and Kakha Kaladze have held the 8-th sitting of Joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Tbilisi, Georgia.

“Outcomes of the Commission have to be translated into certain economic results for Ukraine and Georgia. It concerns development of tourism, drawing of investments and stirring up of introduction in Ukraine of advanced technologies in the area of rendering administrative services. Ukraine will use Georgian experience in realization of this project,” Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Vilkul has said.

During the sitting of the commission there was signed the Agreement on cooperation between Ukraine and Georgia in the area of healthcare and Memorandum on stirring up investment relations between the countries.

Olexandr Vilkul noted that a huge potential for further development of trade and economic relations of the two countries appeared stirring up of cooperation not only at the level of large business, but also at the level of average and small business. With this aim Georgia and Ukraine agreed to hold joint events – conferences, seminars, roundtables. Moreover, the countries agreed to intensify cooperation between state authorities, the development of entrepreneurs’ activity is within their competence.

As the priority of Ukrainian Government appears creating of favourable investment and business climate, regulatory pressure on business was reduced, registration of entrepreneurs simplified. For instance, the number of necessary licenses was shortened by 30%.

Moreover, the parties tackled cooperation in transport area, development of conveyance between Georgia and Ukraine, liberalization of transporting cargoes between the two states and realization of joint projects in this sphere. 

The participants of the sitting of the Commission also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in agro-industrial complex. There was stressed the need to develop relations in the future on mutually beneficial conditions and to activate experience exchange in the sphere of plant growing, cattle breeding and land relations. 

Apart from that, O.Vilkul stressed that in the following 2014 Ukraine will celebrate widely the 200-th anniversary of birth of the noted Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. Ukraine counts on joint actions in holding of large scale events dedicated to this date for Ukrainian national minority on the territory of Georgia.
