OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2013. The 2013 Sino-Australian Friendship Competition on Welding & Architectural Metal Processing Works was successfully held in the two training bases of MCC Group Central Research Institute of Building & Construction (CRIBC).

 The two bases were established by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS).

Two Australian and two Chinese contestants took part in the competitive race. This is the warming up competition jointly hosted by the two countries before these competitors attend the 42nd WorldSkills International.

The 42nd WorldSkills International will be held in Leipzig of Germany during 2-7 July, 2013. This is the second time and the first time respectively for Chinese welding competitor and metal processing competitor to participate in this event. President Guo Wenqing, Vice President Wang Xiuqing of MCC and the other leaders paid keen attention towards this matter, and placed high expectation on these two competitors.

After a three-day fierce and intense competition, the Chinese contestants (Wang Chenyu and Zhuang Xueyu) from MCC Group made a full play of their competence. The two Australian contestants (Mr. Kurt Maier and Mr. Lachlan Mayled), which were headed by Mr. Paul Condran (the Chief Welding Expert of the 41st and the 42nd WorldSkills International), also made a perfect performance and won the high premium from all of the judges.

Director Jia Weiyi from Competition Dept. of MOHRSS Training Technology Guidance Center was present at the opening ceremony. Jia said, thanks to the common efforts made by MOHRSS, MCC Group and its Welding Training Base, the Intensified Training Team had entered into the final stage. He wished that, through this Friendship Competition, the contestants of both Australia and China could broaden views and learn from each other, so as to achieve excellent results at the 42nd WorldSkills International to be held in Germany.

Vice Chief Huang Changlu from the Leading Group of the Training Base of MCC Group extended warm welcome to Director Jia Weiyi, Mr. Paul Condran and the delegation members. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the experts, coaches and staff of the Welding Training Base for their endeavors made during the past time, and conveyed high hopes to the two Chinese contestants. Huang expected the Chinese contestants to learn from the advance experiences of the foreign competitors, make summary on their own advantages and shortcomings, actively explore the relevant countermeasures, and spare no efforts for the training task in the final stage.
Over its 60 year history, WorldSkills International (formerly known as the "Skill Olympics" which was firstly held in 1950) has come to symbolize the pinnacle of excellence in vocational training.

Every two years over 1,000 young skilled people, accompanied by their teachers and trainers, gather together from more than 50 countries and regions around the world to compete before the public in the skills of their various trades and test themselves against demanding international standards during the four-day games. Entrusted by MOHRSS, MCC Group carried out intensified training for the Chinese contestants who would participated in the welding competition at the 41st WorldSkills International.

And at this event, the Chinese contestants won the only one Silver Medal among the six competition activities, marking the very first step of the Chinese Welding Workers towards the worldwide pinnacle of the welding operation.
