OREANDA-NEWS.  August 27, 2013. A platform of dialogue with German investors will be organised under the aegis of Germany’s embassy in Chisinau, in order to improve the business environment in Moldova. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar and German Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Matthias Meyer agreed on the matter at a meeting, the Economics Ministry’s (ME) information and media communication service has reported.
 
“Moldova goes through an important period of European integration, when it must give the process more pragmatism, highlight the real advantages of the European model, which shows itself by quite high standards of the residents well-being. The best support from the European countries may be now expressed by direct foreign investments, the coming of companies that open modern enterprises, which create new jobs and offer good social packages, and that represent the European model,” Valeriu Lazar said.

For his part, Matthias Meyer stressed that the European countries want to contribute to Moldova’s European integration. He agreed that it is important that as many as possible business people from the West be attracted, who are to help stabilise the social and economic situation, thus pointing out the advantages of the European integration. In this context, the diplomat stressed that the justice and investigation of corruption cases are very important for the advancement on this path.

The German official proposed to organise a meeting of a group of German investors, already present in Moldova, with the economics minister, in order to enhance the investors’ confidence in the Moldovan economy. The participants in this meeting are to discuss issues of the business environment, including the fiscal and customs administration, as well as the issuance of different kinds of authorisations.

The deputy prime minister welcomed the idea and proposed to hold such meetings regularly, by inviting the relevant ministers, such the ones of finance, education, as well as other officials, in order to be informed from the primary source with the investors needs and keep a permanent professional dialogue.

In another context, Valeriu Lazar reiterated an invitation for the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology to visit Moldova along with a group of German industrial companies. The economics minister said Germany has already a significant presence in Moldova, and the Moldovan companies contributed to a growth of the exports to Germany by 45 per cent in the first half of 2013.
