OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2013. In the first six months of 2013, IC Allianz paid its customers an amount of 3.1 billion roubles under MOD insurance. It is 16% above the same period in 2012. Within the period, the company settled 53,011 losses of this insurance type.

As the case was in 2012, the absolute majority of the losses (99%, or 52,750 insured accidents) were based on the damage risk, with most insured accidents in this risk category resulting from road accidents: 25,860 losses were settled for an overall amount of 2.2 billion roubles. In the same way as before, the insurants faced glass breakage in their cars on a massive scale. The losses settled for this risk in 10,976 events totalled in 258 million roubles. Damage risk losses were not infrequent as a result of wrongdoings of third parties (4,283 events), with the relevant compensations exceeding 173 million roubles.

Thefts dropped from 185 to 141 as compared to the same period of 2012 while snow and ice slip and fall losses doubled. The last circumstance is easy to explain as the winter in 2013 was very severe and abundant snowfalls lasted to mid spring. As a result, the company reimbursed car owners who suffered from the winter conditions with 9.5 million roubles. The compensation for these risks had been 3.1 million roubles in 1H2012.

The number of fire risk losses rose slightly with a total of 60 such events settled by IC Allianz for the sum of 49.1 million roubles.

In the period of report, the biggest insurance indemnity of 5.2 million roubles was paid to the owner of a burnt VOLVO truck in the North-Western Region.

Vyacheslav Yuriev, Director of Auto Insurance Loss Settlement Centre of IC Allianz comments: "The bigger compensations are largely due to changes in the MOD insurance portfolio. We go ahead to dynamically develop federal insurance programmes with a number of leading premium-car producers and rump up the insurance volumes in the areas of special vehicles and cargo vehicles. The two factors cannot but be reflected in the settlement of losses as the expenses to indemnify car damages in these segments exceed substantially those in the average car market segment. In approaching losses, we persist to put emphasis on the quality and time period of settlements as well as information sharing and interaction with clients and partners".
