OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2013. According to the latest figures, in August 2013 the Russian Railways' network transported 107.5 m tons of freight, 1.3 % less than in August 2012.

Freight turnover in August 2013 decreased by 2.1 % to 183.6 billion tariff ton-km compared to August 2012. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs during the same month increased by 0.9 % to 235 billion ton-km.

According to the latest figures, loading volumes in January-August 2013 amounted to 819.7 m tons, 3.2 % less than during the same period in 2012. During January-August 2013, the railways shipped the following goods. The figures in brackets show the change compared to January-August 2012.

coal – 201.9 m tons (+0.8%);

coke – 7.6 m tons (-11.4%);

oil and petroleum products – 166.7 m tons (-2.8%);

iron and manganese ores – 73.3 m tons (+0.8%);

ferrous metals – 47 m tons (-5.3%);

ferrous metal scrap – 10.7 m tons (-9.4%);

chemical and mineral fertilisers – 31.1 m tons (+1.6%);

cement – 24.3 m tons (-0.1%);

timber – 24.1 m tons (-4.1%);

grain – 6.8 m tons (-41.3%);

construction materials – 116.4 m tons (-4.7%);

non-ferrous ores and sulphur raw materials – 13.9 m tons (-9%);

chemicals and soda – 17.7 m tons (-5.6%);

industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 22.1 m tons (-6.2%).
