OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2013. The Company’s concentrator in Zapolyarny (Murmansk region) has finalized one of the stages of a large-scale project aiming at upgrading of electric drives and controls of two spacious ball mills МШ–300. Two cycloconverters were mounted on the  specially prepared metallic supports.

Cycloconverters  are modern microprocessor devices using Siemens equipment that capture and process the information from the mills. The devices help the employees to evaluate in the true time regime the operating characteristics  of the mills units at all stages, from start-ups to stoppages. Instant control facilitates  timely procedures in case of program deviations. Each cycloconverter is RUB 250 million worth.

Spacious ball mills are responsible for the main part of the technological process transforming 3,3 million tons of ore per annum which makes 40% of concentrator performance.
