OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2013. At an extended Session of FAS Collegium organized as part of Russian Competition Day, a member of Collegium (Minister) for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Nurlan Aldabergenov discussed developments in preparing a draft Model Competition Law.

He thanked FAS for the support and consultations offered to EEC on the issues of the antimonopoly law.

Model Competition Law is designed to approximate legal regulation of economic relations in the field of competition policy on the member-states of the Common economic Space (CES). It includes positive norms of the competition laws of the three CES member-states and global antimonopoly practice. “The Law will be presented to the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia for signing in a year”, emphasized Nurlan Aldabergenov.

He added that “equal competitive conditions for companies in the Customs Union are a factor of increasing competitive ability of national economies and regional stability in general.

The Minister also talked about harmonization of the antimonopoly law in CES: “It’s a complex process but harmonizing the law is necessary, it is not possible that within the Common Economic Space the law in one country is weaker”.
