OREANDA-NEWS. FHI Announces Production, Japan Sales and Export Results for August 2013

Production in August 2013
Domestic production: 43,052 units (up 15.5% year-on-year)
Overseas production: 14,717 units (down 22.2% year-on-year)
Total: 57,769 units (up 2.8% year-on-year).

Production in Jan-Aug 2013
Domestic production: 411,053 units (up 11.9% year-on-year)
Overseas production: 116,273 units (down 7.2% year-on-year)
Total: 527,326 units (up 7.1% year-on-year).

Led by strong demand for the Forester and Impreza models, domestic production rose year over year for the 8th straight month. Overseas production declined from a year ago for the 4th month in a row, but total global production grew year over year for the 8th consecutive month, posting an all-time August production record.

Japan Sales in August 2013
Passenger vehicles: 8,497 units (up 25.0% year-on-year)
Mini vehicles: 3,903 units (down 1.7% year-on-year)
Total: 16,495 units (up 15.1% year-on-year).

Japan Sales in Jan-Aug 2013
Passenger vehicles: 86,764 units (up 33.8% year-on-year)
Mini vehicles: 37,463 units (down 33.4% year-on-year)
Total: 124,227 units (up 2.6% year-on-year)

Driven by strong sales of the Forester and other popular models including the Subaru XV, domestic sales of passenger cars increased from a year ago for the 15th straight month. Mini vehicle sales declined year over year for the fourth month in a row. Total Japan sales rose from the previous year for the 5th consecutive month.

Export in August 2013: 35,006 units (up 42.9% year-on-year)
Export Export in Jan-Aug 2013: 293,141 units (up 16.9% year-on-year)

Propelled by continued strong sales in North America as well as high demand for the Forester in other overseas markets, CBU exports grew year over year for the 7th consecutive month, setting an all-time export record for the month of August.
