OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2013. Re-export of natural gas to Ukraine through Slovakia is beneficial for the two states.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov announced during a meeting with Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Pavol Paska.

“For over a year we have been into negotiations with the operator of your gas transport system so that to conclude an agreement on reverse supplies of gas to Ukraine. It is not a simple question. But, nevertheless our countries are participants of European Energy Charter and it means we have to be able to diversify the supplies. We have to have opportunities for the joint access to the gas transport system and I hope we will solve this question with you to ensure mutually beneficial trade,” Mykola Azarov said.

Moreover, he invited Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic to attend Ukraine and discuss a series of bilateral partnership issues, in particular energy cooperation.

Inter alia, Mykola Azarov thanked to the Slovak Republic for the constant support of Eurointegration aspirations of Ukraine.

In turn Pavol Paska promised further support by Slovakia of the integration process of Ukraine with the EU: “Signing an Association Agreement is the first stage of efforts in the integration process. The Premier of the Slovak Republic, the President, the Parliament will always back the ambitions of Ukraine in your course towards Eurointegration”.
