OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2014. The event is organized by the Economy Ministry and aims to inform the participating Moldovan stakeholders in the energy sector on the state of play of the EU-Moldova energy cooperation within the framework of the INOGATE program in the field of electricity, gas and sustainable energy.

The INOGATE Program, funded by the EU with the total commitment of EUR 16.6 million, is an international energy co-operation program between the European Union and the Partner Countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The particular issues presented during the event include common activities in electricity & gas co-operation; EU experience in awareness rising on Sustainable Energy; experience of establishing SE Information Centres based on the Latvian Information Centre and with the view of establishing one in Moldova with INOGATE’s assistance; clarifications of the implementation of the EU Directive’s 3rd Energy Package, etc. The target participants of the event are representatives of the government and public institutions of the Republic of Moldova namely the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Construction and Regional Development, Ministry of Ecology; representatives from EU Delegation to Moldova and other Diplomatic Missions; representatives from international financial organizations and academic institutions.

INOGATE partners agreed to work together toward achieving the following four major objectives: converging energy markets on the basis of the principles of the EU internal energy market; enhancing energy security; supporting sustainable energy development and attracting investment towards energy projects of common and regional interest. An INOGATE co-founder, Moldova has benefited from more than 30 INOGATE initiatives, implemented since 1996.
