OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2014. Special studies and 70% of the total funding allocated for cattle selection this year will be sent on preservation and development of "Kazakh white-headed" breed in Kazakhstan, the Minister of Agriculture Asylzhan Mamytbekov said at a meeting of the Republican Chamber of "Kazakh white-headed" breed.

Director of the Republican Chamber Kabyl Issabekov reported that now about 1 000 farms are engaged in breeding "Kazakh white-headed". They have around 120 000 heads of thoroughbred cattle and that is almost 65% of total population breeds bred for meat production in the country," he said.

He also noted that the current system of livestock breeding with change of emphasis from livestock breeding into individual representatives of the breed and introduction of the status of "stud" promotes competition development between farms and stimulates improvement in the quality of existing stock.
