OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2014. President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso said that at a press conference he held in Brussels together with Premier of Moldova Iurie Leanca following the first sitting of the governments of Moldova and the European Commission.

According to him, the European Commission responded positively to the request by Moldova and is going to table the proposal to the EU Member States. He pointed out solving of that matter was important namely for small farmers in Moldova. The EU unilaterally granted full access for Moldovan wines to the European market, the President of the European Commission emphasized.

This year, he added, the EU had made available EUR 131 million for Moldova in technical assistance. Recently, the European Commission has adopted an additional EUR 30 million package to assist the Republic of Moldova in the preparation for the future deep and comprehensive free trade area foreseen by the Association Agreement.

The President of the European Commission and Premier of Moldova signed in Brussels a financing agreement worth EUR 35 million to support Moldova's vocational and education training system.
