OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2014. A red-carpet ceremony, held at entrance to the park, included the participation of Sergey Shurygin, Director General of JSC PIMCU, and Natalia Plekhanova, Head of Department for Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Krasnokamensk Administration. Members of the Dauria Community Centre’s creativity studio, Pulse, performed a stage show for first visitors to the park. The youngest residents of Krasnokamensk most of all enjoyed ‘living dolls,’ dressed in costumes of fancy cartoon characters.

Beautiful flower beds, pavilions, swings and other outdoor amenities have been erected under a dedicated programme entitled 46 Deeds Marking PIMCU’s 46th Anniversary. Though the city has never had lack for greenfield sites, such recreation area was not available in Krasnokamensk before. “It’s just wonderful that now we have the place to walk, to spare time and to see friends,” says Anna Andreyeva, PIMCU employee, who was among the first visitors to the park.

The park is particularly attractive to young people. For those who have quarrelled with one another, there is a special Bench of Reconciliation, and free wi-fi is available for those to whom virtual reality is the second nature. So as soon as the first evening after the opening, benches were evidently insufficient for all comers.

“Further work on the park landscaping and expansion will continue together with the city residents. For the next year, we plan additional planting of greenery and setting up garden beds. Once the area is expanded, extra benches will be provided,” promises Natalia Slonich, Director of Dauria Community Centre.
