OREANDA-NEWS. The Agrorus exhibition and trade fair, opening today at Lenexpo, has for more than 20 years been the largest arena for the discussion of issues affecting Russia's agricultural sector. The event is also notable for the number of contracts signed, stimulating a flow of capital into the industry.

Alexander Petrikov, Russian Secretary of State and Deputy Agriculture Minister, thus summarised the event at the opening of the 23rd International Agricultural Exhibition and Trade Fair, Agrorus 2014. He added that the event continues to provide a vital link between the agricultural raw materials sector, agricultural manufacturers, the processing industry, distribution networks and businesses involved in selling produce.

Olga Kazanskaya, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, expressed her agreement, commenting that the themes covered by the Agrorus exhibition have always been and remain of great importance for the city of St. Petersburg, which is home to 80 companies in the food and processing industries. “In today's challenging economic and political environment, companies based in St Petersburg and across Russia have taken on the crucial task of supplying the country's inhabitants with high quality produce”, she emphasised.

In turn, Sergey Yakhnyuk, Vice-Governor of Leningrad Region and Chairman of the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Committee commented that this major agricultural sector event gives the region a unique opportunity to display its top-quality agricultural produce, since each year more than 350 local companies take part in the Agrorus exhibition.

Between 23 and 31 August the Agrorus agricultural exhibition and fair, covering 55,000 sq. m., will bring together in its exhibition and business programme more than 1,000 participants from 19 countries.
