OREANDA-NEWS.  September 12, 2014. Capital Airport has extended the Automated Passenger Clearance System service. Inbound Chinese passengers with electronic ordinary passports can handle the clearance procedure by using the system at border inspection in Capital Airport. This service will accelerate the procedure of the clearance of inbound passengers, which will make it more simple and convenient. And it will also promote the working efficiency and competitiveness of the hub airport.

The Automated Passenger Clearance System is applicable to seven types of people (including five newly added types) which are as follows:

1. Chinese passengers who hold electronic ordinary passports recorded or with fingerprint information collected.

2. Passengers of Mainland China, who hold electronic Exit-Entry Permit to HongKong / Macao recorded or with fingerprint information collected and valid visa lable to HongKong/ Macao.

3. Passengers of mainland China, who hold recorded Exit-Entry Permit to HongKong / Macao, Exit-Entry Permit to HongKong/Macao on business and valid multi entry visa lable to HongKong/Macao; passengers of Mainland China, who hold Exit-Entry Permit to Taiwan and valid multi entry visa lable to Taiwan.

4. Recorded HongKong/ Macao passengers who hold Exit-Entry Permit to Mainland China.

5. Recorded Taiwan passengers who hold Exit-Entry Permit to Mainland China valid multi entry visa lable to Mainland China (for one year and above) or residence valid multi entry visa lable.

6. Recorded foreign passengers who hold foreign passports and permanent residence permits in China.

7. Recorded Chinese flight crew serving on regular international airlines and Visa-Free foreign flight crew or foreign flight crew with Visa C, Visa Z or residence certificate (all for one year and above).

At present, there are 30 automatic clearance channels in inbound border inspection, including 10 in Terminal 2 and 20 in Terminal 3. The specific method is to use facial recognition technique instead of manual verification to identify the passport holder. The three simple procedures—scanning the passport, fingerprint identification and facial recognition will take only six to ten seconds for each passenger on average, which is three to four times faster than manual work. This will effectively relieve the pressure for clearance and promote the working efficiency of border inspection.
