OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2014. The Tourism Agency today presented a six-minute video-spot promoting Moldova, at a ceremony marking the agency’s 55th anniversary.

The spot includes video shots from different areas of the rural, cultural, wine and urban tourism on the music of Constantin Moscovici. An appreciation provided by the biggest publishing house of tour guides in the world, Lonely Planet, which called Moldova „number one tourism destination unexplored in Europe”, serves as message.

The agency’s head, Nicolae Platon, said the video-spot would be Moldova’s visiting card at the international exhibitions, in which the country is to participate.

„The Moldovan tourism has started to gain a bigger role from economic, political and social viewpoints. It will be the main messenger to promote the European vector,” Platon said.

Attending the event, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vasile Bumacov highlighted that tourism became a „strategic sector of Moldova” and hoped „to get to 1 million tourists as soon as possible.”.

The video-spot was worked out by the Tourism Agency, in partnership with the private sector and United States Agency for International Development. Its cost, along with the other 50-second-long one, launched in last August, is of 148,000 lei.

In 2013, the Moldovan hotels hosted about 95,600 foreigners.
