OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2014. POSCO was conferred with `2014 Grand Prize in Korean Social Media` in the manufacturing business category.

The `2014 Grand Prize in Korean Social Media` was initiated in 2011 in a bid to promote the use of social media applications and establish good practices in social media culture. This year`s award ceremony is scheduled to be held in the National Press Club on the 20th floor of the Korea Press Center, Sejongdaero, Seoul on October 24.

POSCO has strengthened its corporate social media presence since 2012 in a bid to shed its rigid image as a steel maker, bolster its corporate competitiveness and promote warm communication with the general public, including key stakeholders.

POSCO is dedicating to enabling open communication, sharing social contribution activities, young talent recruitment, trivia from its employees/executives and seeking feedback from the public through its blog `Hello, POSCO` (blog.posco.com) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/helloposco).

POSCO Blog has achieved an unusually high popularity on social media channels for a B2B corporation, with an average monthly social media engagement of 150,000 persons. POSCO`s Facebook page has also grown continuously since its launch, securing more than 210,000 fans.

Its rise in popularity on social media coincides with a push by POSCO towards promoting the value and vision of its business to raise public familiarity with and understanding of POSCO.

In addition, POSCO has been widely praised for its efforts to form a sense of fellowship with social media fans and strengthen established relationships. Its diverse social media campaigns have recruited social media volunteer groups and organized social media meetings.

A social media spokesperson at POSCO stated, ``POSCO plans to utilize social media applications as a more powerful corporate communication channel in the future. This is to promote social consensus and engagement through open communication with the general public.``

POSCO has already been conferred with the most prestigious grand prize in the `2013 2014 Grand Prize in Korean Social Media` and the grand prize in the corporate holding company category of the `2014 Korea Blog Awards.`
