OREANDA-NEWS. January 08, 2015. This document was signed on December 22 2014 by the representatives of the Moldovan state-owned company Energocom and Romanian OMV Petrom gas. The "blue fuel" from Romania, Moldova will receive via Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline.

As the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of economy of Moldova Andrian Candu, at the first stage the gas deliveries from Romania to Moldova will be small. This is necessary to verify to test the system. Subsequently, they will increase. According to the contract, each month it will be possible to increase the volume by signing a separate application.

Andrian Candu said that in the second or third quarter of 2015 it is scheduled to start construction of a gas pipeline from Ungheni to Chisinau, and then Moldova will be able to buy from Romania larger volumes of gas at a different price. The length of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline is 43,2 km. It was commissioned on 27 August 2014 and will allow providing Moldova at the first stage up to 50 million cubic meters of gas per year.

After the construction of the compressor stations in Romania and construction of the gas pipeline Ungheni-Chisinau length of 130 km, Moldova will be able to receive 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas. The total cost of the project for the construction of the gas pipeline Ungheni-Chisinau will make about 70 million euros. The EU promises to allocate 10 million euros for this purpose.
