Ethanol rail cars continue to burn in Iowa

OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2015. Two rail cars carrying ethanol continued to burn this morning following a derailment and spill into the Mississippi river yesterday near Dubuque, Iowa.

A total of 13 cars and two engines derailed in the accident around 12:20pm ET yesterday, between Waupeton and Finleys Landing, Iowa. Eleven of the cars were carrying ethanol, Canadian Pacific (CP) said, and unknown volumes of ethanol spilled into the river from at least eight of the cars.

There were no injuries or risk to the public as a result of the derailment, the company said.
