OREANDA-NEWS. Kaluga plant Volkswagen stopped the car production on April 29th. By the reduced production program the plant is closed on Fridays from March 30th to July 20th. "As for one day each week is reduced the production program, and since this week - is short, accordingly it turns out that Thursday April 30th instead of Friday – is not working", - the press service of the company informed the agency "Tass". Wednesday, April 29th, has become for a plant the last working day before the May holidays.

The company will start to work from May 16th: from May 1st to 4th the plant doesn’t not working due to holidays, May 5-8 at the plant were announced as simple, from May 9 to 11 - again holiday holidays, from 12 to 15 May - again the idle. After the re-opening of the plant it will work in two shifts instead of three. The company offered a balanced compensation packages to employees who are willing to leave the company by mutual agreement. According to the regional Ministry of Labour, 450 people decided to leave Volkswagen by the agreement of the parties.

It is expected that for a part of the employees it will be offered to go to work at the new central warehouse of spare parts and accessories in the town of Chekhov, Moscow Region, which will be opened in the second quarter of 2015 and it will create about 280 jobs. In addition, it will be offered for some employees to move to a new engine plant in Kaluga, the opening of which is scheduled in the second half of 2015. It will be created about 300 jobs.

"In the first months of the year the Russian car market continued to feel the impact of a weak economy, a significant increase in prices and higher interest rates. We do not expect to see a change in these factors in the coming months, so the company Volkswagen Group Rus has decided to apply the measures to adapt production", - informed the press service of the plant.

Volkswagen plant in Kaluga is producing Volkswagen Polo Sedan, Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Rapid. Production capacity – is 225 thousand cars per a year. In Kaluga, Volkswagen Group Rus produces vehicles in November of 2007; the plant employs more than 5,000 people.

As it was reported previously, the production site for Volkswagen Group Rus at the car plant GAZ, on which the contract assembly of models of Volkswagen and Skoda is implemented, will be in the corporate holiday from May 5 to 25th, 2015. Recall that since the last week the production of models Volkswagen and Skoda models at GAZ car plant works on a five-day schedule. After the end of the corporate holiday the production schedule will remain the same. Earlier it was reported that the production of Volkswagen Group Rus in Nizhny Novgorod in March, switched to a four-day work week regime, which, as planned, lasted until the end of April.

In summer of 2011, Volkswagen signed with "GAZ Group" the agreement on contract assembly of Volkswagen and Skoda in the capacity of the GAZ plant. The design production capacity is 132,000 cars per a year. The total investment in equipment and infrastructure is 300 million Euros. In Nizhny Novgorod, there are produced models Skoda Yeti, Volkswagen Jetta and the new Skoda Octavia A7.
